Is This Program for You? What Does “Intermediate” Mean?
This program is perfect for you if:
You can already use a DAW (Ableton, Logic, FL Studio, etc.) and can make a basic DnB track or loop.
You know how to add EQ, compression and other mixing processes, but aren’t confident you’re using them effectively.
You’ve finished a few tracks, but they feel flat, muddy, or lack punch and clarity.
You’re looking to move beyond loops and build full tracks with flow and energy.
You want to refine your sound and finish music you’re proud to share with DJs, labels, or online.
You’re passionate about Drum & Bass and ready to take your production to the next level.
You want real-world feedback and guidance to prepare for release or demos.
This course is not for total beginners.
If you’ve never used a DAW or made a basic track, we recommend starting with a beginner course before joining (our new Beginner Course is coming soon, contact here (email) to enquire.
What you’ll lean
Over the course of five carefully designed weeks, this program takes you through the essential stages of creating confident, polished Drum & Bass tracks. We start with sound design and sampling, giving you the tools to build your unique sonic identity while understanding how to use and reshape samples creatively. Week two focuses on arrangement and musicality because even if you’re not aiming for musical complexity, knowing how to structure a track and apply basic musical principles will make your mixes clearer and more engaging. In week three, we tackle mixing fundamentals because a great track can be lost in a poor mix. Learning to balance frequencies and use EQ and compression effectively is key to making your music stand out. Week four is all about finishing tracks and self-assessment: knowing when a track is ready to share and how to prepare it for the next step. We wrap up with a guest feedback session, giving you real-world insights and guidance that not only boost your confidence but also prepare you to navigate the next steps in your production journey.
WEEK 1
YOUR SOUND! SOUND DESIGN & SAMPLING
This first week focuses on helping you build a fuller, more dynamic sound using intermediate sound design and creative sampling techniques. You’ll learn to layer drums, basslines, FX, leads and atmospheres with precision and control. We explore resampling and audio editing to inject movement, variation and identity into your music. You’ll also be introduced to basic synthesis, where you’ll begin to understand how sound works and how to manipulate it to design your own. This week lays the groundwork for developing your signature sound with a practical task to create a loop that reflects your evolving style.
WEEK 2
BUILDING COMPLETE ARRANGEMENTS
Many of us get stuck in the loop! Now that you’re developing your sound, it’s time to turn ideas into full arrangements. This week breaks down common structure types and explores the psychology behind listener engagement. You’ll explore intros, builds, drops, breakdowns and outros. We’ll also dive into transitions, automation and FX to help your tracks evolve and maintain energy. You’ll walk away with a working arrangement of a track built from your own sounds or loops. The focus is on storytelling and flow.
WEEK 3
MIXING TIPS, TRICKS AND SECRETS
This week is all about making your music sound balanced, powerful and clear. You’ll learn how to approach mixing without getting overwhelmed. We cover EQ, levels, stereo placement, dynamics, and how to make decisions with purpose. You’ll also explore practical workflows to avoid the trap of endless tweaking. The aim is to give your music space, weight and polish, while keeping the focus on creative expression.
WEEK 4
FINISH MUSIC/KNOWING WHEN IT’S DONE
Making your music sound good is one thing, knowing when it’s ready is another. This week focuses on finishing tracks and self-assessment. You’ll explore ways to test your music objectively and how to prepare for release or feedback. We’ll also show you how to create simple reference chains to match your favourite tunes and get used to A/B listening with intent. The goal is to help you reach the finish line with clarity and confidence.
WEEK 5
GUEST FEEDBACK AND CAREER INSIGHT
The final week brings it all together with a special guest feedback session. You’ll submit your latest track or loop, and receive constructive feedback from an established artist, A&R or industry figure. We’ll also share essential advice on building momentum as an artist, from branding to mindset to consistency. This session is about celebrating your progress, identifying your next steps and continuing your journey with purpose.
WHAT NEXT?
ONGOING SUPPORT
Graduating from the programme is just the beginning. You’ll gain access to our private Discord community for continued peer and mentor support, as well as exclusive invitations to live online feedback sessions. We’re not here to cut you loose, we believe in long-term, reasonable support. You’ll also be offered a discounted spot on our upcoming Advanced Programme, designed to take your skills and the business side even further. Where appropriate, and always with your permission, we’ll also submit your music to our trusted label contacts. Graduates can enjoy additional perks such as discounted 1-to-1 mentoring and other exclusive benefits released over time.
Your Mentors

Your lead mentor for this programme is Outrage, also known as Nomine, a veteran of the UK underground music scene with over 30 years of DJ experience and more than 25 years in music production. With a Master’s degree in Advanced Music Technology and a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education, a formal UK teaching qualification), he combines deep industry expertise with academic rigour. Outrage is also the founder of Education & Bass, an award-winning music education platform supporting learners from mainstream schools to alternative provision, prisons and beyond.
As a producer, he has released music across a wide range of drum & bass and jungle styles on some of the most iconic and foundational labels in the genre’s history including Basement Records, Suburban Base, Metalheadz, RAM Records, Function Records, Quarantine, Future Retro, DSCI4, Commercial Suicide and many more. His remix credits include legends like Kosheen, DJ Crystl and Adam F, with new projects in the works alongside Adam F, Digital and Crystl. From pirate radio to international tours, and from the early days of jungle to modern bass innovation, Outrage has done it all and brings that full-circle knowledge into every session. As far as Jungle and Drum & Bass goes, you’re in safe hands.
To further enrich your learning experience, guest tutors from across the music industry will also be invited to contribute, especially during the final feedback session, and potentially at other points throughout the programme.
How It Works
This is an intensive five-week group mentoring programme designed to help you move your music forward with purpose. Each week, you will join a live 90-minute Zoom session every Monday at 7pm (UK time), led by Outrage (also known as Nomine), with occasional guest mentors.
Dates and Weekly Themes:
-
Week 1 – 21 July: Your Sound! Sound Design and Sampling
-
Week 2 – 28 July: Building Complete Arrangements
-
Week 3 – 4 August: Mixing Tips, Tricks and Secrets
-
Week 4 – 11 August: Finish Music and Knowing When It Is Done
-
Week 5 – 15 August: Guest Feedback and Career Insight
Each session is supported by carefully selected additional learning materials to help you go deeper into that week’s topic. These resources are important, as 90 minutes is not enough time to cover everything in detail. Between sessions, you will be given a practical task linked to the learning from that week. These tasks must be submitted before the next session. While you will not receive individual feedback on these, they allow us to understand where everyone is and adapt the following sessions accordingly. Your final track will be reviewed live during the final feedback session in Week 5.
Please note that sessions will not be recorded. This helps protect your creative work and encourages full participation. Being present in the live sessions is important, as it helps shape a more personal and responsive learning experience.
We recommend committing at least six hours per week to make real progress. This includes attending the live session, completing the weekly task, exploring the extra materials, and practising what you have learnt.
If you are based in a different time zone and the 7pm UK start time is difficult for you, please contact us here before enrolling and we will do our best to find a solution.

Need to know more?
Check out our FAQs below, or email us with your question.
Q: Who is this course for?
This programme is designed for music producers who already know the basics and want to take their tracks further. If you can start a track but struggle with structure, mixing, finishing, or getting your music ready for labels — this is for you.
Q: Is this an online program?
Q: What software and equipment will I need?
A: You will need to have access to a DAW (Ableton, Logic, FL studio, Reason, Bitwig, Cubase or any other DAW). We recommend you have a midi controller and monitors or headphones for playback. If you choose to have active monitors you will need a sound card to power them.
Q: I’m not sure if I’m “intermediate.” How do I know if this is right for me?
If you know how to make beats, arrange loops, and use a DAW, but you’re stuck turning those ideas into finished tracks, you’re exactly who this programme is built for. We’ll help you connect the dots and build confidence in your sound.
Q: What software do I need?
Any DAW you’re comfortable with will work. We’ll focus on concepts that apply universally across software, though examples may be shown in popular DAWs like Ableton, Logic or FL Studio.
Q: Is this programme only for Drum & Bass producers?
Yes, this programme is specifically tailored for Drum & Bass and Jungle production. The techniques, styles, and industry insights all come from this world.
Q: How does the live element work?
Each week there’s a 90-minute live online session covering the week’s topic. You can interact, ask questions, and even shape parts of the session based on your interests. Between sessions, you’ll get additional videos and tasks to keep progressing.
Q: What if I miss a live session?
We strongly encourage you to attend live so you can ask questions and engage with the group. Recordings are not routinely provided to protect privacy and encourage participation, but if you know you’ll miss a session, get in touch — we’ll try to help you catch up.
Q: Will I get feedback on my music?
Absolutely. Throughout the programme, you’ll get guidance on your tracks. In Week 5, we bring in an established guest from the Drum & Bass industry to give live feedback on your music.
Q: What happens after the programme?
Graduates get access to a private Discord community, exclusive discounts on one-to-one mentoring, and priority offers for our upcoming Advanced Programme. We’re committed to ongoing support, not just five weeks and done.
Q: How much time should I dedicate each week?
We recommend at least 6 hours weekly — that includes the live session, extra video content, practising techniques, and working on your tasks.
