In this course, Speaker Louis explains a series of composition techniques which can be used to create a melodic track, even with minimal knowledge of music theory. From constructing the right scale to writing a chord progression and a melody, this course provides all the tools to write original musical elements for your tracks.
In Part 1, Speaker Louis chooses a scale and shows some Ableton tricks to simplify songwriting.
In Part 2, Louis writes a chord progression and explains how to easily construct your own in the piano roll.
In Part 3, he shows how to make chords sound more subtle and musical by using inversions and building custom voicing’s.
In Part 4, Speaker Louis writes a melody over the chord progression and gives some clues for musical writing.
In Part 5, he writes a bassline to complement the chords in a liquid drum & bass style.
In Part 6, Louis adds samples to the track and shows a few music theory tricks to make sure they fit our composition.
